Paul
Sweitzer Reading Room |

|
The Flagstaff Family Food Center’s Reading Room
began serving our neighborhood children in
December 1996. In the early days, the children
gathered in a corner of the dining room to be read
to. As the program grew in popularity so did the
need for additional space. |
|
|
In November of
2000, Paul Sweitzer, an avid
reader passed away. As a memorial
to Mr. Sweitzer, friends raised
money to remodel warehouse space
developing what is now known as
the “Paul Sweitzer Reading Room”.
The Reading
Room is supervised and open daily
during meal time. The children
look forward to the one on one
attention they receive from staff
and volunteers. |

Periodically, the Reading Room hosts special guest
speakers for the children. Some of our guests have
included local authors, artists, musicians, Smokey
the Bear and Santa Claus.
While our main focus is
reading, we also offer arts and crafts, toys,
educational computer time & after hour parties. |
